[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Perception is a really weird thing. How funny a thing this can be!
First, our perception of other people…
I’ve talked before about our perception of other people out on the ocean enjoying themselves and making thousands of dollars without working much. You know who I’m talking about.
Yeah…as a lot of you know, that’s only our perception. That’s the picture those people built for us, but it’s not necessarily true.
All those Facebook and Instagram pictures are the high points. I mean, who wants to share that they just lost a client? Or that manufacturing screwed up? And who wants to scroll through a feed of depressing, negative things?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/OZ5A5uANUgQ”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]So our perception of what we are seeing makes it seem like everything is perfect.
These entrepreneurs look like they have the perfect life, perfect business, perfect everything.
It’s not real.
We aren’t seeing what happens five minutes after that frame is taken.
We can’t hear the bad things those people are telling themselves about their life. We certainly aren’t seeing pictures of a bathroom break down, but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening. The pictures we see are only moments.
The other side of perception is the perception people have of you…
People will think you’re weird, crazy (yes, crazy German here), arrogant, whatever.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]You need to remember, that is only their perception of you.
Most of the time, it has nothing to do with you.
Take a minute if you get bad feedback and see if there’s something to it. Pay attention to it, especially if you get the same criticism multiple times, but don’t let it get to your head.
You need to find your own way of running your business and living your life. You need to figure out how to free yourself of caring about the perception of others.
There will be people who have trouble with the way you live your life. That’s just how it goes. Some ProtoPreneurs even see it as a rite of passage.
Some people may see you with jealousy and wish they could live the life they think you have. Others might just hate on you because they perceive you as the problem without looking at themselves.
There are so many factors that you can’t control when it comes to other people’s perception of you, so simply let them go.
Pay attention, listen, take the dog for a walk, come back to your own balance, and be you.
99% of the time, the way people perceive you is a reflection of themselves. Not a reflection of you.
