What's the easiest way to change task due dates in ClickUp?
Aren’t you sick and tired of manually changing every single one of your task’s due dates on ClickUp?
Don’t you find yourself wanting to hit the skip button or, at least, wonder if maaaaaybe you can cut the clicking around in half?
(You know, so you can finally get on with the rest of your day’s full agenda!)
Me too!
So, let’s take a look at 2 epic features that help streamline your ClickUp workflow even better:
Remap Subtask Due Dates and Reschedule Dependencies.
Why you should try the Remap Subtask Due Dates feature
Every time you change the due date on a main task, your subtasks will get adjusted within the same timeframe automatically.
This feature saves you from needing to manually change each subtask’s due date every time the main task due date gets updated.
How to Remap Subtask Due Dates
- On the bottom left, click on your avatar icon.
- Choose ClickApps.
- Scroll down and look for Remap Subtask Due Dates.
- Make sure to turn this feature ON.
- Create a new task, then click on the three dots . . .
- Click on Templates and select applicable recurring task template.
- Change the main task due date (and watch the magic happen!)
Why you should try the Reschedule Dependencies feature
What’s another efficient way to deal with task deadlines automatically, especially when they get completed a lot earlier than expected?
You can use the reschedule dependencies feature!
Activating this feature allows you to set a ‘blocking‘ task (which can either be a main or subtask) with a projected Start Date and Due Date by dragging the task toggle.
This will save you loads of time from needing to update tasks individually, since associated tasks get automatically adjusted as soon as the ‘blocking‘ task gets accomplished.
So, if Team Member A (blocking task) were to finish and mark their task as complete 2 days earlier than projected, then Team Member B (who was waiting on Team Member A) can get started on their task sooner.
How to Reschedule Dependencies
- On the bottom left, click on your avatar icon.
- Choose ClickApps.
- Scroll down and look for Reschedule Dependencies.
- Make sure to turn this feature ON.
- Create a new task, then click on the three dots . . .
- Click on Templates and select applicable recurring task template.
- Go to Gantt view (if Gantt view isn’t active yet, you can simply add it by clicking on + View, select Gantt, and Add View).
- On the upper right hand corner, click on the three dots . . . and select Reschedule Dependencies.
Conclusion:
Depending on your needs, you can definitely choose to use just one of the two, but it would be a lot more efficient to keep both options available for those ‘just in case’ moments.
